Artist Statement

  • Instagram

I am an interdisciplinary artist and use a multitude of media to portray different topics. For 2D works, I work primarily with silkscreen prints depicting the topic of the body and the struggles we share regarding society’s body standards. I have always struggled with my self image and how I am portrayed by others as a physical being. I have used my artistic journey as an opportunity to find my own worth and start healing and seeing my body as the beauty it is.

I work with silkscreen prints and 3D works including ceramic and mosaic. I create silkscreen prints using my personal photos as reference. I make simple line drawings taking inspiration from Louise Krampien and her style of drawings and blocked out colors. I also take inspiration from shapes and patterns I find in the world, whether this is clothing or packaging etc. My ceramic pieces are created using custom slip cast molds and I experiment with glazing combinations. I also use ceramic to create my own custom tiles to use in my mosaic pieces. I recreate childhood images using glass, beads, stones, and ceramic pieces in medium scale mosaic pieces. I explore different textures and incorporate movement in these pieces. As I continue this work, I hope to inspire women to explore their own personal beauty and help with their healing journey through art.
